Cat Memoirs

Last night I was thinking about my old cat Boots. He was a great cat. Boots was actually the neighbours' cat, but since they were never home and always left him outside in the cold, he started coming over to our place. Me, being the softy that I am, started letting him in and feeding him. Boots completely responded to all this love and attention by being the snuggliest cuddliest cat I've ever known, but when I told this to the neighbours they were completely shocked. They'd never seen Boots be cuddly or snuggly. Eventually they decided to move away, and they left us Boots, so he became a permanent fixture at my parents house.

Now Boots was the kitty king of the neighbourhood. He was about 18 lbs, and all muscle. He would routinely make his rounds at the neighbours, and beat the crap out of the other cats who didn't show him proper respect. Boots also ruled over all the dogs in the neighbourhood. There were a few he'd play with occasionally, but he usually just had contempt for them. I remember this one puppy who wanted to play, and Boots walked right up to him and smacked him on the nose with his clawed paw. The puppy started to cry and I felt so bad for it, but at the same time I was laughing so hard at Boots, who then sat and calmly started cleaning the paw.

There was one big german shepherd who came snooping around the yard, and one day crossed the line. That was it, Boots was after him like a flash. I heard this noise and when I looked, I saw Boots on the back of this dog, claws dug in and riding him down the street like a wild pony, with the dog yowling all the way home. Then Boots came home, and was exceptionally snuggly... obviously quite pleased with himself that he'd won.

God I miss that cat.

Awww! He sounded fun. :)

I also used to have a cat named Boots, but he was the biggest (literally -- this cat was huge) pushover you could've ever met.

When i was a lad (before fire) We had a tom kitty that was a long lanky 20 lb kitty. My mom had him declawed (3 times!!) but a total of 5 of them would stay removed.

He was absolute king of the neighborhood too.

He regularly beat up or cowed even huge dogs, the really big ones he would get to chase him up a tree and find a limb overhangimg the dog 6-10 feet or so up the tree and punce their back. Ihave seen him to that and ride a big mean tempered great dane.

Thanks Shar, your sotry brought back some wonderful memories fo rme too.

Tinkr Thomas Damnit Cat was a sweetheart ..... he never missed an opportuinty to nap with me o rmy mom an dwas a sloveable as any cat I ahve ever been around.

Thanks Again.

I used to have a german shepard and she used to terrorize my cats. One day one of them got fed up I guess and did the same thing: she whacked the dog who turned to run away and my cat started CHASING her and jumped on her back and wouldn't let go. Poor doggy was crying and running in circles. It was a bizarre sight.

Yeah, I'd never seen anything like it in my life.

And people think cats are inferiors :P

Cats rule!
