bertine and gwangi are planning their wedding, and gwangi made an interesting post about reception music.

It got me to thinking about music that I always hear at weddings... like no matter who's wedding, or how old they are. Wedding reception staples if you will.

I started wondering if those were just local traditions in my own tiny corner of my country, or if some of these are also pretty standard elsewhere.

The Bird Dance
A polka or five
Boney M's Rasputin

What's a wedding reception staple in your area?

Yes, I think they are the same - we just grew up with it being called the bird dance, and all the dj's always knew which one the kids meant.

In any event, I mean this one:

I know The Electric Slide has been a big one in forever, but it seriously does not make appearances locally! I hope lots of people respond - it will be so interesting to hear about other people's reception traditions :P
