I'm devastated

We've come back from our weekend at the lake, only to find one of our cats is missing.

We both swear that she was upstairs when we left on Friday.

The cat sitter never saw either cat - she just came, refilled food, and changed the litter. She was in and out, and is familiar with our cats and their sneaky attempts to escape. She said she never had the door open long enough for a cat to escape, and I believe her.

We scoured the house. We searched the garage, in case she got out of the house and into the garage when we were packing.

We can't find Tigger anywhere.

My weekend has been ruined.

I want my baby girl back.

***ETA: Update - J found Tigger this morning, three houses up from us, hiding under a bush! She didn't look remotely concerned. Maybe she thought that since we were going on vacation, she should have one too?

Here is my little story that I hope helps you to feel better.

Shortly after Clarice and I moved to Toronto, she went missing. The worst part was belatedly realizing that the basement window had a small tear in the screen. We had looked everywhere but she was no where to be found and her food was untouched.

Fast forward a few days. She'd found some impossibly small spot in an impossibly cramped corner to hide in.

I hope Tigger has done something similar and will eventually come out.

Oi! So Clarice was trapped for several days? That's not good...

Tigger has been found! She was down the street a couple houses, hiding in the bushes. I think she was much less concerned than we were!

That mischievous cat wasn't trapped. She'd snuck into our roommates "smoking room" and hid behind a chair in the far corner. She didn't come when called or anything. I think the only reason we found her was because one of the boys had sprawled in the chair and happened to notice that there were a tiny pair of eyes looking up at him.

I'm glad that you found Tigger! Crazy kittens, eh? I wouldn't be surprised if she thought she was having some grand adventure that you ruined.
