She came, AND she helped to clean, which was totally awesome. The kitchen got cleaned. The living room got tidied. A lot of stuff got put away. It took the two of us several hours, which should give an idea of the state of my kitchen/living room. There's still more in the living room, but it's much more manageable.
In addition, last night I told Jason we HAD to get more storage, so we went to Home Depot and picked up some cube shelving for Alex's room. This will be fantastic, because her books are EVERYWHERE, and this will free up some much needed storage in my linen closet (where a lot of her books are for some reason).
In any event, I feel motivated. Now... on to tidying up Alex's room and putting the books in their new home!

Decluttering feels really good, doesn't it? I often feel a bit like I have no control over the state of my own house, and decluttering and cleaning make me feel in control again. It's good.
Although truth be told, I don't think the problem I have right now is "clutter" per se... I think the problem is that I have an unrealistic expectation of our existing storage solutions. They can only do so much, and then you just need more!
