Alexandra and talking

So my 21 month old baby, who still is not speaking very much (like less than 25 words), was sitting with me watching the Dragon show.

The narrator described how Dragon couldn't sleep because a pigeon was cooing.

Alex looked at me and said, "Uh oh, a pigeon was cooing!"

My jaw just dropped to the floor.

Awwww, how cute!!!

We have family friends who spoke several languages in the home: Polish (one set of grandparents), German (the other grandparents) English and French (this was when we lived in Quebec). Their son didn't speak until he was almost 4 -- they had taken him to various therapist and experts to no avail. When he did start talking, however, he was fluent in all 4 languages.

Sometimes they just need time for their wee brains to sort everything out! :D

I think you're exactly right. Just because they aren't actually speaking doesn't mean there isn't an awful lot of processing going on!

She was saving her verbal expressionism for the best moment to be cute. And she wanted to make sure it was the cutest moment she would get.

From now on, you shouldn't be worried, be anxious. Anxious to see how she plans to impress you next.

Hug her for me!

The story in my family is that I didn't talk for so long, my mother took me to doctors. When I started, I started with words like aquamarine and spoke in full sentences. Some kids just do that. But she did pick a rather good time to do that. Very cute.

Hehe the timing was pretty awesome. My sister didn't speak until late, but when she spoke it was using proper sentence structure, and everything was gramatically correct. We'll see if I have another one of those!
