7 Months...

My baby was seven months yesterday. I can't get over it!

I'd say she probably started sitting up just when she turned six months. She's trying so hard to crawl now... she's just getting her little butt up in the air and is rocking back and forth. Unfortunately she gets her ass up there, and then her legs slide out from under her so she ends up moving backwards. Then she gets mad. Did I mention she has a temper? Geez... I wonder where she got that from :P

She's really into toys right now, and it's pretty cool to watch her play with them. My dad got her this double-sided activity board. The one side is for 0-6 months, and the other side is for 9+ months. She actually seems more interested in the 9+ months side, so that's kind of cool... although I'm not sure if that's a good measure of advancement.

There's this play group that I signed her up to be in. She's kinda young to be in a play group, but I was thinking that I should probably schedule some social baby-friendly activities for myself. She had a GREAT time... she played really hard for 1 1/2 hours, including trying out the different exersaucers (which she totally adores). She's really into jumping right now, and the exersaucer at the play group has, sort of like, shocks on it. So she jumped and jumped and jumped and jumped until she was exhausted. She fell asleep on the drive home. Usually she wakes up when the car stops, but this time she didn't; she just laid her head on my shoulder and slept as I carried her to her crib. She didn't even wake up when I put her in her crib. Exercise is a good thing, and I think this play group is going to work out well :D

I haven't started her on solids yet. With such a history of food allergies it's best for us to delay, but I'm really wanting to try her with new things now. Jason picked up some rice cereal the other day, but when I read the label it said that it had 100% of the daily recommended iron intake and 60% of the daily recommended calcium intake. That's just stupid to combine the two of them... they compete, and then you don't absorb enough iron, or enough calcium. One of the other moms at the play group suggested I go with "Beach Nut" brand, as she was sure they didn't have any added calcium. I'll have to check it out. Maybe I could just skip the rice cereal altogether since it looks gross anyway... but I need a good starter food with iron.

This weekend I have my cousin from the West Coast coming in to visit. It should be a fun time :)

Dude, there was a catastrophe with my pictures. I spent hours sorting them/editing them (i.e. colour adjustments/cropping) and the stupid fucking program lost all my changes, so I have to start over again.

My goal is to do some of that today.

Wow she sounds like she is just cruising along. My little one is not even interested in sitting! But she loves to stand. Kids are quirky. That play group sounds cool. This may seem like a silly question but, How did you find one? I don't know were to look locally. Do you pay? How does it work?

And I agree with the previous poster, were are the pics?

I wouldn't have found it if my friend hadn't mentioned it... I should ask her how she came across it.

There is a cost - it was $60 for half a year, I think $100 for a full year (but I'm going back to work in Feb, so I didn't bother signing up for the full year). I also had to sign up for snacks twice over the term, and I have to agree to sign up for toy washing twice over the term. The toys get washed once a week on Sunday nights, so they don't get too gross with other kids playing with them. I had to write two cheques for toy washing in case I didn't show up when I was scheduled to wash.

If I can find out how my friend found out about the co-op, I'll come and post it :)

Ok! I found out that several of the playgroups were advertised in the Leisure Guide. The City has a fall and spring activity catalogue, usually geared for city programs in city owned facilities, however they have a section for advertisements, so I bet it advertised in there.

Good luck in finding one!

Edmonton has a class magazine. I should check that out it might list some classes/groups in there.

So. Excited.

This is a great age. In fact, this is the age that, when reflecting on it, will make you consider having more babies.
