Copied from my site...

Ok, So I had my pre-op appointment for the laser eye surgery today. The appointment was for 1:15pm. So this morning I get a phone call from the optometrist reminding me of my appointment at 1pm. 1pm? Ok, well the difference isn't that great. I won't quibble. So I go there for a 1pm appointment. I get there, and sit in the waiting room for an hour. The optometrist finally sees me at 2:15pm. I'm not impressed. So then he puts these drops in my eyes... that take 25 minutes to take effect. So I'm sitting around the waiting room, watching all these moms and their sick kids filter in. If I get a cold from this experience, I'll be so pissed.

So as the drops start to take effect, I find I can't really focus anymore, at least not with my glasses on (which makes sense when you think about it), but I also find that the room is getting exponentially brighter by the minute, to the point where it's hurting my eyes. So I'm walking around with my eyes covered, and then the optometrist tests me. How does he test me? BY SHINING LIGHTS IN MY EYES - ARGHHHH! After that lovely experience I felt like I was completely snow blind, or sun blind or something. All I could see were shadows. Glad I had a ride home. Anyway, I got home, and I had to immediately close all the blinds, and turn off all the lights and sit in the dark so my eyes wouldn't hurt. I swear, it was like looking into the sun before. Anyway, then my curiosity finally got the better of me, and I took a look at my eyes. Turns out, my pupils were so dilated, I could barely see any of the color around the black. My eyes were almost all black and they reminded me of what's-his-name from Limp Bizkit. It looked like I was on acid or something.

Well damn, I had to take a picture :P Now I took it with the webcam here, and quite frankly, I don't know how those people with webcams manage to turn out such stellar shots of themselves. If anyone out there would like to email me and let me know the secret, that'd be great. But yeah, here it is. You should see an absence of color (the iris i believe) around the pupil (the black part in the center). I might have taken physiology, but we really didn't do much with the parts of the eye, and I don't remember much of that class anyway. I suppose I'll look it up before the surgery. Anyway, here it is:

Yeah I know, I look tired. That would be because I am. I slept for a few hours after the drops, because I couldn't see anything else. Anyway, hope you all have a good day, I'm just trying not to cringe at the brightness of the pc screen. I think I'll go sleep it off.

I knew it wasn't just my doctor who was annoying.
It's the pupil that's all black. We dissected cow eyeballs in junior high, it was kinda cool in a disgusting way.
Sleep tight. <3
