Cat Heirarchy

Yesterday morning, Alex was eating her cereal downstairs with Jason, while Stephen and I were upstairs. Jason forgot something upstairs, so he left the Alex and briefly came upstairs. While he was momentarily gone, Tigger jumped up on the table (something she knows she isn't supposed to do, and very rarely does it), pushed Alex out of the way, and started drinking the milk from her cereal. Alex started calling for help, because Tigger was eating her breakfast.

The family heirarchy in our minds:
Adults
Children
Cats

The family heirarchy in Tigger's mind:
Adults
Tigger
Kitty
Ziggy
Children

Interestingly enough, if Tigger is on the stairs, she won't let Alex go up or down.

What on earth makes you think you're at the top of the hierarchy in his mind? Cats do not believe any being is above them. Perhaps temporarily in control, but certainly not higher than themselves.

LoL! The fact that she listens to us, and respects the rules when we're around :P

Also, the fact that she covers her cat poop in the litter box. Apparently uncovered poop is the sign that they think they're above you.

Trust me, kitties listen and respect and all other sorts of things but none of them think us humans are better than them.
At best they think of us as retarded giant kittens that do stuff for them if trained properly.
They listen and obey the rules because there are consequences but if they can be's bad and sneaky they will.
Kitties are evil eternal.<3

It's actually quite possible that Tigger does babysit, especially when talking about the stairs. Tigger teaches children "cat" manners. She doesn't run away from them, she will stand her ground, let kids get super close, and the instant a hand touches her paw, she will pin that hand to the ground with a very specific "NO. TOUCH. PAW." look. She's still got a lot of "mama" left in her.

She's calico, but her colours are white, orange and brown :)
