I suppose there will be many of these...

Alex has a black eye.

The new game, is to pull ourselves up to standing by holding on to mommy, while mommy is lying down. Then we crawl over her. There was a shoeboxfull of blocks on the other side of mommy. Alex got to the top of mommy and then slid down her, with her eye connecting with the corner of the shoebox.

I'm so glad it wasn't directly on the eyeball.

It started to bruise about 15 minutes later.

I can't believe my baby's got a black eye!

awwww...poor bebe. poor mama too. while this may be her only black eye, it certainly will be the first of many bumps and bruises. as she grows up it gets easier to deal with, believe me. its not easy to see lil babes in pain.

*hugs*

I have a scar on my forehead from when I fell against a wall at nine months old and needed stitching, she'll forgive you.

I haven't had a black eye in.. a very long time. I don't remember the last one, the only one I do remember was the day before I started Kindergarten, my next-oldest brother (he's 2 years [1 year 11 months] older than me) hit me in the eye with a croquet mallet. I was 5.

not to scare you, but: the greatest is being about 7 and stepping on a rusty nail... those were the days :-P

Oh, another gem: that same brother said something to the effect of "I can stop this hatchet just before it hits your head, Ben." Suffice it to say that he was unable to stop it. I was 4 at the time. My mom just about had a heart attack when she saw the amount of blood coming from my head.

Actually, I stepped on a rusty nail when I was 7 too. Gotta love the tetanus shot.

Re: hatchet brother. Wow. Just wow. Did you need stitches?

no, I didn't need stitches, and I don't remember the last time I got a tetanus shot. *shrug*

Bah. Don't worry about it. I have a scar on my eyebrow due to my brother seeing me coming in my walker and leaving the gate to the stairs open. Yup. My daughter has a scar on the same eyebrow from rocking back and forth in a laudry basket and falling over on to her dads barbells. 2 stitches. My son has one on the SAME SPOT for jumping on the couch at the sitters and falling off and hitting the corner of the coffee table. No stitches.

See. And we all turned out fine.. lol

That's crazy stuff... makes it almost look genetic that you all have the same scar :P

Trina darling, why oh why do you keep deleting your journal, and what can I do to help you? I must have missed an important post or two, and for that I'm sorry. Going back to work is harder than I thought.
