If you could go back...

Stolen from cjsmith.
You, gentle reader, have been given the opportunity to go back in time ten (10) years and tell yourself three (3) things.

What are they?

My answers:

1) The winning numbers to the 649 on a specific date.
2) That my marriage to Jason will become a happy one, and buying a house and having kids (when we are ready) will change it for the better.
3) That my time with my father will be limited, so enjoy it while he has his health.

A close fourth:

4) Go to school and take the subects you're interested in, even though there doesn't appear to be jobs for that knowledge. Life has a funny way of working out sometimes.

What are the three words of advice you have for yourself for the next ten years?

My Advice:
1) Finish what you start - it makes you feel so much better about yourself.
2) Take the time for the little things - remember how good you felt on your mat leave when you slowed down and actually stopped to smell the roses/baby poop.
3) Spend the time with my loved ones now because they may not be around in "a few years" when it "gets less hectic". It will never get less hectic, and more time will never suddenly appear. Time that isn't spent with them is time lost, never to be regained.

If I had this chance, the first thing I'd do is tell myself to be more careful and aware of how important my relationship with the mother of my child is. When 23 year old me stops laughing, I'll tell him that I really am going to have one.

The second thing I would do is have him focus on being more true to myself, to be more careful with my decisions and to stop wearing my heart on my sleeve.

The third thing is to go to SK and find this girl named Sharleen, and teach her how to count to three, because one day she's going to write a meme on a thing called "Live Journal" and she will be asked to come up with three things to tell herself down the road and end up with seven.

Heh, I missed copying part of the meme. The following sentence was just added: What are the three words of advice you have for yourself for the next ten years?

So...if you knew the winning numbers would you play them? And if so how would that then effect the rest of your advice? You know managing that much money takes some considerable effert. You would have to hire a gaggle of nannies to smell the roses/poop for you.

I thought about that. I think I would tell myself the numbers to last week's lottery (or something equally recent) - as in Sept 2006, and yes, I would play them. That way, it wouldn't change my life up to this point. But I certainly wouldn't mind a several million dollar cash injection right about now :P

hehe...ok...so how do live for ten years with the knowledge that you will be rich this week? I think that knowledge alone would change your life. I'd certainly be tempted to be a little less frugal (like I was ever frugal in the first place) knowing that I could cover all my debts within 10 years.

You're possibly right, but in general, I try not to count my chickens. What I mean is, I might not have as much savings as I do now, but I honestly don't believe I'd start living outside my means... it's just not in my nature :P

1) I'd go for the lottery numbers too.

Actually, I'll have 3 sets of winning numbers so that all of my friends can have cash too :D

Advice for the next 10 years?
1)Don't play the lottery, it's a waste of £1.
2)Eat healthier
3)Get registered with a dentist.

1. Spend more time with your kids they turn out to be awesome young adults and you will wish you knew them even better.

2. Pay more attention to my relationship with my wife. Shes worth it and if I do the 2 years of Hell we go thru might not happen.

3. Quit being so obsessed with the destination and get on with your journey. Absorb the scenery .. thats really what the journey is about.

Yup, it's all about the path you take to get there... not so much about the actual getting there. :)
