Update for posterity

Last week, Alex seems to have remembered how to roll from her front to her back (on her left side), so she's not freaking out that she's stuck on her stomach anymore. Yay! Now she's flopping around like a dying fish. Yesterday she actually rolled from her front onto her right side to get to her stomach, so it looks like progress is being made. It's actually pretty cute. Unfortunately it means that I can't leave her on the bed unattended anymore :/

She's becoming more vocal, but unfortunately she's not doing the cute little babbling that she was... she seems to be doing a lot of whining. This pitiful little whine (that doesn't ever stop until she gets what she wants) comes out of her mouth and sounds very much more insistent than a dog begging for food. Except I can't seem to figure out what she wants. Things I've tried: nursing, bouncy chair, swing, sitting up, lying down, toys, blocks, the cat, standing up and being carried... the only thing that will pretty much guarantee to get her to stop whining is the jolly jumper, but I want to limit her time in the jolly jumper - not leave her in there for extended periods! Oh yes and walking. She loves being outside. I try to take her out on a walk at least once a day weather-permitting.

I'm sure there's more that I've forgotten (remind me to not go without posting this long again) but that's all the Alex updates I've got for this post. Oh yeah and we bought her a highchair finally. She loves it! She looks so proud when she's sitting in it, clearly thrilled that she's sitting at the table with everyone else :P

Edit: That fussy period that she went through where she was the incredible napless baby, and wasn't eating properly, well that suddenly seemed to stop overnight. It lasted about two weeks and then it just... went away. She's napping again and eating normally again. I had originally thought that kids grow while they're sleeping, but my Mom thinks she read something about kids only growing when they're awake. This would make sense that she was really fussy then, because it was about the time of her six month growth-spurt. Interesting.

mmm... growing pains.. i remember those, knees stretching, feeling very strange, i can imagine it would be intense for a baby, especially not knowing what's happening.

....and don't go this long without posting again :-P

Yeah, they grow so much in such a short period of time... it must be quite painful/uncomfortable :/

Uh, oh - Mobility is setting in. Yes, this is when you can no longer run to the potty and leave them surrounded by pillows on the bed. Man, i remeber that stage with Lily all too well...

Oh, I meant how long is too long to go without posting? I'll prod you when I get the urge if it feels too long.
