Randomness

Brevity is golden.

Let's see... Alex found her right foot today. She's spending most of her time on her back holding both feet straight up in the air... it's cute as hell.

We also noted that she appears to have discovered the cause and effect phenomenon. We had her in her exersaucer yesterday, and while she usually ends up whacking a key on the keyboard and making a sound, this time her eyes lit up, and she started to whack it repeatedly. I think this will help make playtime more interesting.

She also bit me this weekend. My boob hurt for a whole day. Thank goodness she has no teeth yet.

I'm generally feeling a bit blah these days. I'm having a hard time making conversation with people because I don't seem to have much of a life outside of being a mom right now. My whole world seems to be revolving around 'Alex did this' which is fine and all, but I'd really like to be able to have some OTHER kinds of stories to tell people when I'm talking to them.

I was just check out your journal.

Luckly Jillian has not yet figured out that she can bite mommy so I'm lucky. Is it okay if I add you to my friends list if you don't mind.

Ah...new mother syndrome. It happens to all of us. We are just so thrilled over our offspring, we can't help but talk constantly about every little thing they do. It's sweet...it means that you truly enjoy every little thing about your child, as it should be.

The blahness will come and go. Just remember to take time for yourself...hot bath, perhaps read a good magazine...you need 'me' time as well as baby time.

I'm so happy to see you take delight in your child...it warms my heart :) xo

Yes, I'm definitely starting to take more time for myself... it's a good thing :)

I just need to start doing things that I can actually have a conversation about.

I can recall feeling the same way after having Kayla. Everyone advised me to find a "play group" or "mommy & me" class to meet other mothers. I never did. My maternity leave was so short so I was back to work very quickly. But during that time at home, I had the "bleh" feeling all of the time.

Sadly, mine ended up into a full blown post-partum depression thing. For about a year. And I never told anyone! I just left the voices and the sad and evil thoughts gat all caught up in my brain until a year and half later, I dumped it all out to Dave. :(

Yikes!

Well, I can honestly say that I'm pretty sure I don't have PPD. I'm actually feeling pretty good most of the time... just a little bit of normal frustration here and there. How long did it take to get over the PPD and what did you do to help it? Was it just talking about it that got you out of it?

I just love that picture...

I had PPD for almost exactly one year and one month after Kayla was born. It was horrendous and only until after finally breaking down to Dave did the symptoms improve. That just seemed to help. And then, it just sort of disappeared. Thank God!

I am glad that you are doing good with her! Thats just sso good to hear.

I'll give you a bite to remember lol

So I spent all yesterday in airports and on planes and didn't think to stop in and wish you a happy birthday, so ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I did pick up something else for Sharette while I was over this latest time, but nothing else for you other than that postcard. ~shrug~ too busy spending time with Kess I guess =) I think 6 time zones qualifies for "geographically undesireable," but I'm finding it difficult to care ...

So if you're looking for other stories, you can start spouting off about your whacko American friend who can't seem to manage to actually live in their house, but at least remembers to get stuff for Sharette while they are living elsewhere =)

Hehe thank you for the birthday wishes :P

The postcard is so beyond adorable, and was the perfect thing to brighten my day, thank you!

So did you convince Kess to come visit?

I wish.

Our current joke is about which words need to be erased from the dictionary, and it started with Urlaubssperre. That's a standard 6 month ban on vacations when you begin a new position in Germany. She's still on Urlaubssperre with the hotel and is looking for a new/additional position as well, so it will be 6 months from whenever she starts this new one before she can even take a day off, let alone two weeks to come to the States. Since she can't get time off, Christmas in Berlin is starting to sound better and better ...

She's madly and passionately in like with me, BUT: Her computer's been in the shop for 3 months (a friend said she'd fix it cheap, and hasn't bothered to get back to her) and didn't even have internet when it was working. For us to chat, we can run up an exhorbitant texting bill (my $800 phone bill last month was not a big deal for me, but it's a rather big one for her), OR she can drive downtown, find a parking place, cross 4 lanes of traffic and 2 trams lines, then sit around waiting for a computer to become available so we can start chatting. I love you to death Shar, but I'm not doing that shit every day even for you =)

Who knows? Maybe this is just a long term test to see how serious I really am. If that's the case, I plan to do quite a bit better than merely pass ;-)
