Question for those that know

I'm pretty sure the baby dropped sometime in the last 12 hours or so.

So, tell me girls, is it normal for it to feel as if the kid could fall right out of me everytime I stand up?

And how long after YOUR kid dropped did you go into labour? (I know they say it could be up to 4 weeks before for a first pregnancy, but I want other people's input here).

Yea it's normal to feel like that. It was probably 2 weeks after D dropped that I went into labor.

Ditto.

Yeah, it's a weird feeling to walk around after the baby has dropped down, but that means that the day is approaching where you no longer have to carry the baby inside you, but in your arms instead :D

It wasn't that bad. The annoying thing was that for months the doctors had both been telling me that he'd be early, because he was big. In reality, he was born at exactly week 41.

Of course, by that point I had already been in the hospital once for false contractions, and so, being shy, I kept playing down the real contractions, like "oh that wasn't a contraction, I'm just going to lay here a little longer"

I can totally see myself doing the same thing! I guess we'll see now... hopefully I won't be so late that they'll decide to induce me.

I can't even believe you are having your baby so soon! I wish for belly pictures! Friends only! No face required! You owe it to us since we can't walk up to you and touch your belly the way every stranger you meet currently does.

Which is something I imagine you hate.

There are a few belly pictures. Just a few. I am seriously thinking of posting them. I am a beached whale, and it's now kinda funny :P

Re: the strangers touching my belly, it's so freaky! The first time it happened was in slow motion, I saw this hand reach out and this big smiling face approach, and my eyes got big and I'm sure my face showed horror... the patting and rubbing began and I just looked down in shock watching it happen. The person was completely oblivious to my reaction.

Honestly, it will largely have to do with how much time I have after I go on mat leave, and before I have the baby!

Yeah, everyone wants to touch the baby before it comes out. It is a bizarre instinct.

Hopefully that will change imminently :P

Puhlease.... I pushed Kyle out, they handed him to me..I looked at him.. He was alive.. I said "Now what?"

The nurses laughed...

Then they tryed again later.. took him outta that wheely thing.. plopped him on me.. said "change him".. I looked at them horrified and said "huh?? How?" They said...dont worry it'll come to you..

It did.. (good thing is.. I made the mistake of NOT covering his wee-wee while I changed him.. HE PEE'D ON MY SISTER WHO WAS SITTING NEXT TO THE TABLE.. ) Our first bonding moment as he got rid of her and I got some peace and quiet.

Then his unbilical cord fell off.. I called my friend next door and said.. "How do I bathe him without drowning him?..I was afraid he'd slip down the seat... She was TOO busy to help and who knocks on my door.....???? My SIX yr old neice. She grabbed the chair over to the sink.. plopped the baby in the bath seat, contorted her arm under him and washed him and said "See aunt Kathy?? IT"S EASY!!!"

I learned.. and I'll never forget how it just "came to me" or was "sent to me in the form of a 6 yr old"

I LOVE MY NEICE. and being a mom is something you never knew was in you till you do it ;) Dont fret...

with this pregnancy, he dropped down about 2 weeks ago. *sigh* and yes, it does feel like he's gonna fall out every time i stand up. im not sure which is worse.

I can so totally see us going into labour at the same time!

That's freaky how the internal exam dropped your first baby... I think I'm kinda glad my OB/GYN didn't do a cervical exam wednesday!

I only knew when my 2nd dropped. One night I lost my plug, then the next morning I noticed at work that the baby was pressing on my bladder again, having dropped, then I went into labour later that morning.

I didnt drop, I was induced 3 weeks early.

How's the baby moving around?? Is it getting crowded in there??? Baby prolly wants to come out soon, to play with the kitties.

How are you feeling otherwise????? I'd call the doctor and let them know how you are feeling. They may want to see you for a check up and let you know how much more time you have left so you can get done what you want to do before baby arrives.

Ohh and there better be a "I'm in labor" post....

Baby's pretty active, and definitely gets annoyed if I do something where I'm leaning over and squishing it a bit. I can feel smaller movements, but lots of them. I'm pretty sure it wants out now.

While yesterday was totally shitty, I'm feeling pretty good today. Glad I'm at work and getting stuff done. It's keeping me busy, and it's not physically demanding. Ironically, I had had a prenatal exam on Wednesday morning, and then the contractions started Wednesday night. The doctor indicated that it could actually be any time now, but he personally suspected it would be on-time to late. Either way, no big deal since if it comes now, it's fully cooked. Next appointment is Wednesday morning.

I'm rather confident there'll be an "I'm in labour" post. Or maybe another "I think I could possibly be in labour" post :P
