Not a happy kitty

I took Buzzer to the vet yesterday evening. Poor Buzzer gets so freaked out by car rides, that she usually hyperventilates and drools. She didn't hyperventilate yesterday, but the drooling happened. The vet was traumatic, there was another kitty there that jumped on top of Buzzer's cat carrier and kept hanging down looking at Buzzer. It was really cute, but we probably should have put a stop to it. Buzzy didn't seem to care.

It seems that Buzzer has lost a lot of weight... an alarming amount, and so we're doing major blood tests to try to figure out what's going on. Hopefully they'll call us today about it. I still think it's amusing that we get our cat's blood test results before we get ours. Amazing what happens when you pay for your own health care/vs having the government pay it for you, isn't it?

When we got home, Jason was trying to clean Buzzy up and was wiping her face. This didn't go over too well, and she ended up choking on her own drool and throwing up. Sometime later that evening, she went and pissed on our bed. I wish I had noticed it earlier as opposed to later when I wanted to sleep on the bed. I spent most of the night doing laundry, and I still have all my regular laundry to do.

Poor Buzzy, she's just been so traumatized, and she's going to have to go back too :(

It wasn't that bad really, Jason pretty much did it, I just didn't get to sleep until much later than I wanted to.

Yeah, they've brought that up as an option before, but in order to go through with that, we need to take her in to get weighed :/ A bit of a catch-22 I'm afraid.

weight her yourself
get on the scale.. note the weight. Then pick her up, get back on the scale.. note the difference. They don't precribe it based on EXACT weight.

I've found with my pets.... if you take them for a ride just for the hell of it when vet time comes they don't get stressed because they stop associating "car ride" with "fucking vet".

Takes a while though.

Just do the damn laundry woman and shut up!

You know I was only kidding about the "Just do the damn laundry woman and shut up!" part. Right?

The thing is, we've tried aclimatizing her to car rides... it has nothing to do with the vet him/herself... she actually purrs for the vet, it's the car ride that so horrible for her.

Then thats a problem. Maybe if you put the carrier on the roof she'd like it better?

Heh, somehow I don't think that would go over well. Especially in our climate ;)

What a bummer of a day! Guess it's time to close the bedroom door on vet days, huh? :-( I hope Buzzer doesn't have anything too horrible going wrong. Maybe it's something easily fixed. [crosses fingers]

They're supposed to call me today with the blood results. I hope they call me at work, I don't want to wait until I get home, and then have to wait another day till business hours to call again.

You'd be playing a different tune if Jason was ill and pissed on the bed! Yes I know that's different, but you started it with the blood test comparisons!

My Doctor only allows you to phone up about blood tests between 2 and 4, so you sit there getting stressed until 2pm and then find it's mission impossible to get through.

I would definitely have to shoot Jason if he pissed on the bed because he was mad that I took him to the doctor :P

Put him out of his misery ;)

That policy would drive me insane. INSANE.

She seemed ok after she pissed in our bed, but she didn't come wake me up this morning which tells me she's still not quite her normal self.

I know... I just hope this whole thing won't involve too many trips to the vet. The car rides will end up killing her :(

If it makes you feel any better, I pissed my boyfriends bed a few months ago :)Cat piss does smell a lot worse than human "beer piss" though.

I dont like cats but I can sympathise with having an ill pet. I hope she gets well.

I was lucky enough to have had the brilliant idea of buying a waterproof matress cover. Lucky for me it was just a matter of washing everything and not trying to de-scent a piss-smelling mattress.

Thanks for the comment and well-wishes.

I love Buzzy, here's hoping she is ok and doesn't decide to use your bed in that manner again.

:( Poor Buzzy. I too hope this is just a minor thing and she will be back to full health soon.

At least she is VERY well loved :)

*runs off to friend buzzy because I meant to months ago but I am a forgetful idiot*

My cat hates the car rides too.
She pants and pants and pants at me.
I found it to be more of an ease to take a used dryer sheet with me and her pillow and put it in the back seat.
She'll eventually lay down and rub up to the dryer sheet.
I don't know why.
But, of course, my cat is really weird.

That's really interesting. I'll try that next time!

I suppose it would also de-static the cat too :P

oooooooh, I hope she feels better now!

My kitty Symone had to go on kitty valium when 12yo was born. I hope that Buzzy does better at adapting...
