Laundry Help Please

I'm so mad at myself, there's this blouse that I haven't worn in ages, that I'm finally small enough to wear again. It looks fabulous and is one of the few things that actually fits me.

Well, I went to wash it, and I completely forgot that it's dryclean only. I only washed it, I didn't put it in the drier, but it still shrunk.

It was 53% Acetate and 47% Rayon and I was sure it was in cold water, but it still shrunk horribly (and got wrinkled too).

Is there anyway I can fix it (i.e. if I take it to the drycleaners, will that help), or do I just toss this one too?

Any suggestions welcome :/

Edit: I should specify that the material kind of crinkled up, it didn't shrink exactly... like you can stretch it out to it's previous size, I just can't make it stay stretched. It's definitely not like it's my former blouse in miniature, it just sort of shriveled but is expandable.

I shall consult my mother the woman that managed to mend my trousers 7 times in a term when I decided to play rugby in them.

Lets put it this way. You should be pregnant soon and wouldn't be wearing it for long anyway.

Thats me.. always looking on the positive side.

that I'm finally small enough to wear again.

Wait. You've lost weight? Well, you'll be pregnant soon. That's how it works. I lost ten punds and BAM, I was pregnant with my daughter.

I have... I've lost about 15 lbs. (See my memories for the "Weight Watchers" tag.

You're right of course, probably silly to be stressing since I'm trying to have a kid :/

I'd try stretching it back out while ironing it dry at a temperature safe for the fabric. Hopefully other folks will have good suggestions too.

I send rayon (though not a blend, I think) through the dryer, personally. I have no patience with "dry clean only" when there's no reason for it. The only problem I've run into is that sometimes a manufacturer uses cotton thread for the seams, which shrinks and gives a ruffled look to everything. Stoopid manufacturer tricks.

I've had that problem too... drives me nuts!

I'm thinking that perhaps the problem was the acetate, and not the rayon... or maybe it was a combination of the two that did me in? Either way, I have nothing to lose, and I will most definitely be trying your advice!

Not big, but I was bigger than I am now. But you know this, you've been following my Weight Watchers progress.

There's tight (which is hot) then there's too tight (which is not).

This one is definitely too tight.

Shrink
I had a pair of pants to a suit do that a few months ago. They did fit(barely) but now they look like they would only fit Tattoo(fantasy island guy-not the faux lesbians from russia).

I suspect all my co-workers (all females) would have a problem if I started showing up to work naked :P

I think I'm banning acetate material from my list of available clothes to buy.

Welcome back to lj btw :D

I hate it when this happens!
I was going to suggest ironing, but someone else already did.
alternately, and more fun:

Heh, I'll try the ironing, but I think that if that doesn't work, to the Sally Ann she goes!
