Thank you :) I felt the same way when I was looking at it!

Give up the details on ur cam! I'm really getting tired of my Sony when I see colors like that. Time for something new. Absolutely beautiful.

4.85MB and 3504x2336pixels!!! We now know approximately how many hairs on your head and can admire your fine dental work too. :D
May. 24th, 2005 01:35 pm (UTC)
LoL Ok, I didn't think that one through very clearly :P
May. 24th, 2005 01:34 pm (UTC)
Thank! I must confess, I finally bought my new cam, and then didn't post because I was too busy trying to get used to it :P

Very nice. Bot the picutre and the camera. I am jealous - my 10D is so outdated!

What lens did you use? Any filters?
May. 24th, 2005 03:30 pm (UTC)
I picked up this lens:

It's not the best lens, and I think I'm going to want to get both a telephoto and a macro, however it does a decent job. The stabilizer actually works too, which is nice. I put a UV filter on it, mostly just to protect the lens. I was tempted to throw a polarizing filter on it, but I figured with digital, I could probably get the same effect by retouching the photos afterwards. Although I'm lazy and I'll probably never do it :P

I'm all for taking the shot with the effects I want, the first time round, rather than spending hours later, retouching it.
May. 24th, 2005 03:39 pm (UTC)
Oooo. Here are the two I use most:

wide angle

telephoto zoom

My oldest lens is a 28-105 that's I still use too. A macro lens would be nice.
May. 24th, 2005 04:20 pm (UTC)
I'm loving your telephoto!

So you're really pleased with that one? Is there anything you don't like about it, or wish that it had? I've never actually had to go lens hunting before, I just used to make use of what I had... but I'm getting greedy now :P

I'm also totally wanting to start experimenting with near Infra-Red photos, like the ones found here

But I have to read up on how to go about doing that, and what/where to get the filters. I found a cool site for it that I bookmarkedat home, but I havne't had a chance to do anything yet.
May. 24th, 2005 05:19 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I like the lens. It's a definately a long lens with the artificial zoom of the camera, but it works well. The only complaint I'd have on the lens is that it doesn't get short enough to use it as a general purpose lens. That's why I'd like to consider adding one like yours (my old one isn't a great lens - and I dropped it once, resulting in it not holding filters anymore).

The infra-red stuff is way cool! Let me know what you find on shooting those. I'd be totally interested in learning how to take shots like that.
May. 24th, 2005 05:33 pm (UTC)
That's always the trouble... in order to get the zoom that I want, I have to sacrifice being able to use it for general use. Quite the piss-off really. I'd be willing to pay a lot for a lens that I didn't have to constantly change, and met all of my needs. Again, I'll say it, I'm lazy as hell :P Also, I don't want to lug around a zillion lenses, and have to worry about if I can change it to the appropriate lens to get the shot in time. Half the battle is being at the right place in the right time for some of these *grumble*.

I quite like my current lens for general purpose (aside from the not enough zoom aspect) it also allows me to get in fairly close for some decent closeups... maybe I don't need a macro, I just like the look of macro photography. I haven't considered a wide angle simply because I'm not sure how much I'd use it. I should probably see if I can check out a friend's or something, because maybe that would be more useful to me than a macro lens.

I'll also be sure to pass on to you that link about the infra red stuff :)

I'm lazy as hell

Ditto. :)

I wish Ihad my camera on the way to work this morning. The moon was just setting behind the mountains. Would have been an awesome shot with the telephoto.
May. 24th, 2005 08:32 am (UTC)
I looked at the gallery too, it's always nice to put a face to the name. :)
May. 24th, 2005 01:35 pm (UTC)
It's not exactly the most flattering pic, but there aren't very many of me, since I'm usually the one doing all the picture taking.
May. 24th, 2005 10:51 am (UTC)
WOW! That sunset is breath taking!
May. 24th, 2005 01:36 pm (UTC)
Thank you! As soon as I saw it, I pretty much had to run and get my camera :P

The whole thing was gone in about 10 minutes, so I'm glad I found it in time :)
May. 24th, 2005 11:48 pm (UTC)
You were meant to catch it on film for the rest of us to enjoy!
May. 24th, 2005 12:42 pm (UTC)
i've never seen you before! you're so cute! even unshowered. :)
May. 24th, 2005 01:38 pm (UTC)
Hehe, thanks :P

There's practically no pictures of me, since I'm the one doing all the picture taking!
May. 24th, 2005 02:39 pm (UTC)
that was awesome and the fact that you look happy just makes it awesomer.
May. 24th, 2005 03:30 pm (UTC)
Aww thank you :)
May. 24th, 2005 02:48 pm (UTC)
They're all great photos. I love your hair!
May. 24th, 2005 03:31 pm (UTC)
Hehe, my disheveled bed-head? :P

Now that my hair is getting longer I'm starting to like it more too. It didn't look so horrible that I would't post it, so I guess it's finally working itself into something I like too :)
May. 24th, 2005 10:17 pm (UTC)
Makes a nice baby-makin' backdrop! ;)

Hope you had fun there. We have a squirrel that hangs out at our house and chases all the birds off the feeders so it can eat. Fatty. *haha*
May. 25th, 2005 03:28 am (UTC)
I know, they are SO amusing! In this case though, the bird (Whiskey Jack) outsmarted him. The bird hid in the trees, and watches where he hides the nuts... then the bird goes and steals them as soon as the squirrels back is turned!

When the squirrel finds out he freaks out, it's so cute :P
May. 25th, 2005 03:31 am (UTC)
Very pretty. The sunset and you.
May. 25th, 2005 07:32 pm (UTC)
Well thank you! I'm blushing right now :P
May. 25th, 2005 04:36 am (UTC)

All I get are misty purples... sometimes.
May. 25th, 2005 07:33 pm (UTC)
Misty purples are beautiful though! I get the best results when I zoom in where the most brilliant colors are...

This picture wasn't nearly so interesting before it was zoomed, because really just a smallish portion of the sky was brilliant ;)
May. 26th, 2005 05:33 am (UTC)
yeah, zoom is a good thing.

I suspect my new camera can do many wild and wonderful things that I haven't been able to even comprehend yet. The damn manual is the size of a dictionary.
May. 26th, 2005 01:08 am (UTC)
Nooooooooo! The mystery is gone! Now I, alone, must carry on the tradition of being a baghead.

I'm just messing with ya. ;) Your hair is looking much better than before. I'm the same way you are...always behind the camera, rarely in front of it.

Which reminds me...I need to take some more pics for my photobucket.
May. 26th, 2005 01:35 am (UTC)
Hehe :P

I just finally decided I didn't really feel like hiding from people whom I've genuinely grown to care about anymore.

However, the picture isn't public... only those on my friends list can see it.

If you ever decide to come out of the bag, let me know, I'd love to finally be able to see what you look like :)
